☞ REVIVE: Viaduct Views at Manhattanville
We mentioned a few weeks ago that some of the taller buildings were going down at the south side of the Columbia Manhattanville campus site and the two photos above shows the dramatic change in the view. At top, one can see a large storage facility under scaffolding at 125th Street along with a few buildings one block north in the same situation. A photo taken this past weekend shows clear views of the viaduct arches and all of the buildings mentioned in the first photo are almost completely deconstructed (click on images to enlarge).
As mentioned previously, this is the south half of the new campus site and the north side will not have anything happen on it for some time. Also in the lower photos are the eminent domain properties which are still open for business. At the foreground is the gas station and the large building at the top right is one of the Tuck-It-Away storage facilities. This demo phase is set to finish up by summer 2011 so those said buildings must be next in line in the upcoming weeks.
