☞ INTRODUCING: New Sign Up at Showman's
Old School Harlem establishment Showman's recently installed some new signage out front on 125th Street but the modern aesthetic of it doesn't really allude to the great Jazz Age of uptown. Renovations of historic Harlem sites such as Minton's, Lenox Lounge and the revival of The Red Rooster do a great job conjuring up the bright lights of early Harlem with the use of retro neon or bulb signage but this new sign is more perfunctory in nature. These flashing electronic signs (as seen in the second photo) are more common to current bodega makeovers in the area and basically have a digital look to them. Showman's has been around since 1942 and remains one of Harlem's tourist attractions because of the jazz performances inside but it would also be a little more interesting to see a little of past also on the outside.

yewww. Those flashing signs are going to look so dated in about two years. They are ugly and annoying.
