☞ REVIVE: M&G Diner Sign Arriving at Red Rooster

So the fate of the retro neon sign over at M&G Diner looks to have been resolved by Harlem's local celebrity chef. Marcus Samuelsson posted a photo of the sign being removed (lower photo) via twitter this morning and announced that it will be set up in the Red Rooster. Looking at the photo, there seems to have been a lot of damage to the neon elements and most of the bulbs are now busted out. Maybe a quick stop at a sign shop for maintenance is more appropriate at this point?  We have been following the renovation of the original M&G Diner building for the past few months and it looks like the diner will now only exist in pieces at a revival of another long gone Harlem establishment.

  2. When I was walking to the subway this morning, I saw this sign on the back of a delivery truck! Must have been partially spit-shined somewhere and now will be further refurbed in place.

  4. Seems a good addition to Red Rooster’s fascinating collection, a good fit with the bulb illuminated lettering and border to complement the restaurant façade. It will command a large wall space inside and look great, I would add an old photo of the M&G diner alongside this piece. I think Sanou’s Mum can take some credit for suggesting this Marcus Samuelson acquisition way back.
