☞ REVIVE: St. Nick's Pub Still Closed
Even though a major jazz festival has arrived in Harlem this week, it appears that one of the oldest running uptown venues still has its doors closed. We followed up on a tip that St. Nick's Pub at 149th Street was shut down by the city and the above photo does show that this is indeed the case. The establishment that has been around since the 1940's seems to have been operating without some required permit and it is unclear when the situation will be resolved at this point. The notices from the city have been taken down and all that is left is the sign from before that says "Temporarily closed, check again for more information." Anybody know whats up?
ReplyDeleteI visited ST. Nick's Pub June of 2010...It looked as if it might need to be fixed up. I really hope that the owners can get the club back to standards. This is too bad.
ReplyDeleteAccording to their facebook page, they're undergoing renovations.
ReplyDeleteA post on the St. Nick's facebook site dated March 14th mentions that they will be open in two months. So maybe in the next week?
ReplyDeleteIt's not only sad, but a little frustrating for me. I tried to go there for my birthday, and it was closed unexpectedly (my boyfriend had gone a few weeks ago), and now, October, still closed with a huge RIP spraypainted ontop. Curiosity makes me wonder what kind of permit they didn't have? A "health permit" doesn't seem to be worded right...
ReplyDeleteI hate how the website says it's open
