☞ REMEMBER: Museum Mile Festival 2011

The thunderstorms last night did not prevent a lot folks from heading out to the 33rd Annual Museum Mile Festival but the showers probably affected the overall turnout this year. Crowds gathered around live music performances and artists (some dipped in gold paint) showing off their wares in the streets when the skies were momentarily clear at this annual outing that spans the early evening hours.  For those in Harlem, the event started out by 105th Street at El Museo (top photo) and would make its way down past the Museum of the City of New York.  Some other notable art institutions with their doors open for the free admission night included the Cooper-Hewitt, the Guggenheim, and the Met which could all be visited by taking a stroll down Fifth Avenue. The weather wasn't ideal but this event is a great one for the family and also a date so mark your calendars for next year if you missed out
