The open lot on the mostly brownstone lined block of West 119th Street between Fifth and Lenox have always been a bit of of a mystery and one resident recently pointed out some possible action on the site:
"We live on 119th betw 5th and lenox - there's a 3 (maybe 4) lot vacant lot on the north east end -- we had proposed to our block association looking into putting a community garden in the space; we did some very superficial research and discovered 2-3 of the lots were owned by a church and the most eastern I believe was owned by the city; we are now hearing that the church owned lots have been sold and are being developed but this is all rumor level type stuff."
There was a digger on the site in the past week or so and some interesting information has appeared online about this parcel.
First of all, there are no permits filed at this point so any development coming along is pure speculation. On the other hand, lot number 15-19 West 119th Street does show up on a current website selling the land for development. It appears the parcel is being sold for a total of $800K and has a full buildable potential of 10,815 square feet. The listing was last verified about two weeks ago so availability might have changed since then: LINK. Any more tips out there?
