☞ BESPOKE: Historic Windows with Curves
Number 226 Lenox in the Mount Morris Park Historic District finished a year-long renovation earlier in the season and some funky temporary windows (lower photo) have finally been replaced on the second floor of the local landmark. The proprietor had a plywood-window combination up on the barrel curve part of the facade for most of the year that had some neighbors raising an eyebrow but now the new, slightly rounded windows are finally in place (top photo). The regulations in any historic district can be pretty tough but the final product usually ends up more unique than most modern constructions.

Its a source of great amazement to me how they are able to make curved glass. There is an apt. building on ACP Boulevard with curved glass and its just amazing to see. You don't see it that often.
ReplyDeleteGreg, they simply heat it and place it on a mould. Great glass bender in Red Hook, the name of which escapes me.
ReplyDeleteGood to see this building brought back to its former glory.
