☞ REVIVE: What's Up with 243 Lenox Avenue?

The above photo shows No. 245 Lenox Avenue's new facade (at right) last year after it went through a complete restoration but the neighbor at No. 243 still was left as a decaying shell.  In the past weeks, there seems to be some activity going on at this landmark corner of the Mount Morris Park Historic District so what is actually going on?
Walking by West 122nd Street, one can see that new scaffolding and netting has finally arrived at one of the last brownstones that need to be fixed up on the west side of lower Lenox (not to be confused with the corner building which has had scaffolding up). Seeing that this is an official landmark, something needed to be done sooner than later to keep this building up and it appears just scaffolding will do for now.  An old permit from 2006 had an interior renovation planned but the infrastructure overhaul did not seem to have taken place after all these years. Current permits only refer to the scaffolding at this point so a complete building overhaul might not happen just yet.

  2. @Chris...this is the brownstone right next to the corner building which has had scaffolding up for some time. It looks like one big building from the photo but that is not the case.

  4. i spoke to the contractor . same guy who did the nice job on the brownstone on the right of the photo. .he wasnt clear if he was now doing the other little guy next to it , but i saw the workers pointing the rear brick facade on it today. as for mike's big building, i hear it has 14 foot ceilings. Boardwalk Empire filmed there last week. its featured in American Gangster as well. it would make a great condo building with a store. the contractor said a professional office would be on the ground floor. its been years! what an eyesore! lets hope so.
