☞ DWELL: 517 West 152nd Street Townhouse

OPEN HOUSE: Sunday, August 21st, 1:00 PM-2:00 PM.  The West Harlem house that formerly belonged to Dance Theater of Harlem founder Arthur Mitchell is still up on the market since it appeared this past spring for the initial asking price of $2.5 million.  Several months later, the 20 foot wide, semi-detached home has had a 10 percent price reduction to $2.25 million but will the modern renovated interiors interests a potential buyer?  More photos after the jump.

There is a total of 6 bedrooms and 4 baths in the reportedly 4,900 square foot home that is technically a 3-family building. As far as the immediate area is concerned, there's not too much happening in the better amenities area but the Dance Theater of Harlem is on the next block over at Amsterdam. More photos and details on this townhouse can be found on the broker site: LINK

  1. I've seen the photos on the Sotheby website and they are lovely. While the poggenpohl kitchen is nice, I'm just not a fan of the black/charcoal grey color of the cabinetry for a kitchen but is is a nice job nonetheless. There is an extension in the rear of the house with deck and the extension supports a very plain looking balcony (but it is in the rear and who is going to see it, right?) There seems to be a lot of space in the back yard which at this price should be landscaped.

Finally, there were no photos of the bedrooms and there is a very scary looking stairwell. The preserved stairwell that appears to be in the entry way shows a wall that looks as if an arched parlour entry has been sealed up.

So, I don't know if 2.25 million is going to be it for them. But we'll see. Good luck to the sellers.
