☞ REVIVE: 5 West 125th Street Moves Forward?
We received a tip that the huge lot at 5 West 125th Street will finally move forward and it is now evident that DOB permits for proceeding with the foundation have been submitted as of last month. Approval is still pending because of zoning but it appears that there will be 125,500 square foot of office and retail space in a 3-story building plus a cellar level. Based on this PDF file that reveals the rough plans, the finish date is relatively quick since the entire project is estimated to finish by Fall 2012: LINK. It also seems that the individual retail spaces are currently seeking tenants based on this site: LINK

Great news! But the plan seems scaled back from the hotel that was initially proposed.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that developers continue to propose low-rise structures on some of these vacant/cleared lots, despite the rezoing from a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteMore retail.
ReplyDeleteYay.
Folks actually do live in the 125 area y'know. It's not just a shopping corridor.
Instead of the planned hotel or lux condo we get more retail.
At least, it should provide some jobs for the folks already here.
