☞ SEE: The Twin Towers and the City at MCNY

From September 3rd-December 4th, The Twin Towers and the City at the Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street. MacArthur award-winning photographer Camilo José Vergara's four-decades-long study of the World Trade Center captures the Twin Towers' place in the history of the city, their colossal presence on New York's skyline, and their surprising gracefulness. With images that document the remaking of the city's skyline, these photographs shed new light on our ever-transforming metropolis.

Artist Romain de Plas (1971–2002) spent the year after September 11, 2001, making this series of vivid paintings—a tribute to and a meditation on the events of that day. The works depict the towers in a range of moods, from calm to agitated, poignantly paying homage to the buildings and to those who lost their lives there. More details at the MCNY site: LINK

  1. I just have to put in here that this weekend, the Plaza of the Adam Clayton Powell building had a series of noisy events, culminating yesterday in some sort of party, including a teen beauty pageant. I don't know if Willie Walker and the team at the ACP building wanted specifically to spit on the memory of the Americans who lost their lives 10 years ago, but they did. Incredible insensitivity!
