☞ INTRODUCING: Teen Battle Chef Showdown

Monday, October 24th, 3:00PM - 5:00PM,  The Teen Battle Chef Showdown at  Fairway Harlem, 2328 12th Avenue and 132nd Street - in the park alongside the store. HealthCorps, a proactive high school-based health movement designed to combat the obesity epidemic through educational and mentoring programs in schools across the country, including 15 New York City schools, will join with Fairway Market to hold a Teen Battle Chef Showdown at Fairway.

This event is being held to celebrate Food Day, a national, grass roots initiative for healthier diets and improved food policies. The Teen Battle Chef Showdown involves two teams of high school students facing off as they prepare and present two different ethnic recipes involving seasonal local produce. The Showdown is just such an opportunity for the young chefs to give back to their community by demonstrating healthy fall recipes and sharing their nutritional knowledge with family, friends and the greater community. The teams will be judged on a variety of criteria: knife skills, food safety, organization, entertainment value, and taste and presentation.
