☞ REMEMBER: 116th & 8th circa 1906
An old postcard from circa 1906 shows a more rare view of the elevated train station that used to dominate today's lower FDB corridor. Most photographers at the time have usually focused on the curved part of this station over on 110th Street and this view provides a better sense of street life and trolley traffic along the avenue. The tracks would be torn down sometimes in 1940s and the building on the left hand of the image would also eventually be demolished in the future. On a positive note, the said corner today now houses the popular Harlem Tavern that was constructed from an old gas station formerly on the that corner lot.
