☞ EAT: A New Basement Pizza Coffee House?
The old Basement Pizza shop at the corner of 125th Street and Amsterdam Avenue has been closed for some time now but a reader mentioned that there has been some activity on site recently. We walked by the old frame house that the pizza/coffee shop was housed in and the full interior is currently getting a gut renovation. Looking closer at the DOB permits on line, we found that 1343 Amsterdam has a permit out for renovation of the existing commercial tenant's space. So does this mean a new and improve pizza parlor/coffee shop will be arriving soon?

I always catch the bus around there and have always fantasized of having a cool retro diner there decked out like the old Pan Pan diner. Jimbo's is blah but this place has a lot of potential!
