☞ REMEMBER: The Watt-Pinkney Carriage Yard

The massive Watt-Pinkney estate that used to be located just west of 7th Avenue took up most of that block and had all of the comforts of country living on hand.  A photo taken in 1910 shows the carriage yard out back during a time when most of this part of Central Harlem had tenements and brownstones growing around it.  Alas the mansion would eventually succumb to developers and this section of Harlem now mostly consist of apartment buildings.
