☞ REVIVE: East Harlem's Apple Bank
The grand bank palaces built a century ago are mostly further south in Manhattan but East Harlem's Apple Bank still exists today and appears to have been going under renovations in the past few months. This bank on 125th Street and Lexington was originally built in 1908 and was then called The Harlem Savings Bank. After the name change, the bank would become a city institution but many are unaware of its Harlem origins.
