☞ READ: Old Harlem Brownstone's New Designs

A Times article features the modern mix within a South Harlem home of a couple who moved uptown  via Soho.  After seeing their downtown environment change into a homogenized, youth-oriented neighborhood, Nicole Betancourt and Bray Poor decided to move to Harlem with their two daughters because they were attracted to the diverse nature of the community.  With a Harlem house purchase completed in 2007, the artsy family carved out interior openings within the old brownstone that was inspired by home courtyards in Mexico and combined old elements with new designs.  Read and see more photos in the New York Times: LINK.
