A photo of 125th Street's north side taken in 1949 shows some of the major entertainment venues of Harlem during this time period. The Harlem Opera House's awning can be seen at the center which was at that point converted into a movie theater. One can also see the Palm Cafe awning right before the opera house and this music venue was notable since Jimi Hendrix was a regular at that particular boîte. Further down, the Victory Theater can be seen and finally the Apollo's famous marquee looms further west. As most know, the Harlem Opera House was demolished sometimes in the mid century and a new building stands in it place now. The other buildings are still intact and the Victory has grand plans of being restored in the near future: LINK
