☞ EAT:Vintage French Doors at La Maison Harlem

The new restaurant called La Maison Harlem is making progress these days on the corner of West 127th street at 341 St. Nicholas Avenue.  Antiqued metal French doors were being installed last week and we walked by recently to check out how they finally turned out.  This entire retail side of the building was blocked off in the past but now the vintage doors add an open feeling and light to the forthcoming restaurant.  As far as the interior goes, everything appears to have been dry walled and the electrical has been put in place but there's not much else going on at this point.  Read more about this new restaurant arriving in Central Harlem via our past post: LINK

  1. Great street frontage with the French doors, will really cheer up this corner. Looks like the sidewalk may not accommodate outdoor seating. Looking forward for this to open.

  2. I'm really delighted by this. That was a pretty dead spot.

  3. Okay, I know that this has been said before, but I would like there to be a gentleman's agreement that no business going forward is allowed to have the name Harlem in it. Agreed?

  4. It is a little silly, but at the same time, it's a good sign: Harlem is marketable.

  5. @Darlene:

Just think, if the Lenox Lounge had been named the HARLEM Lounge we would have had 50 lawsuits by now.:)

But I welcome it to the neigborhood, unimaginative name and all.

    1. I always had issues with Lenox Coffee closing so early. Til this day I haven't had the opportunity to go in. Seems like I need to make space in my planner. However, you should give Astor Row a try which just around the corner on Lenox and 130th. They close at 9pm. They use Irving farm coffee which is delish! The cappuccinos are on point too!

    2. Astor Row Cafe is very nice but the music is loud fast and to be kind, absolute torture if trying to read or work on a laptop, a word to the owner of Astor Row Café, play something relaxing, please. Agreed, Lenox Coffee is perfect except should open later and yes, there is room for more coffee shops in Harlem.
