☞ EAT: Sushi for Two at Jado on FDB
One of the other best restaurants to open this year in Harlem is Jado Sushi and we recently dropped by for a bit of sushi for two. On opening night this past summer, the new eatery at 2118 FDB and 114th Street was slightly overwhelmed with the crowds but service has been impeccable on our last couple of visits. We had the sublime braised short ribs to start as usual (which is a must have even though an odd pairing for sushi) and then ordered the sushi plate.
The standout sushi was on point as usual but we were surprised with the California rolls since they came out much larger and were stuffed with real crabmeat. We tend to avoid this popular American invention since it usually consist of processed, imitation seafood but the Jado version reinvented the classic in a better culinary variation. Jado gets quite busy on the weekends so those interested in hitting the new hot spot should make a reservation in advance: www.JadoSushi.com

I love Jado sushi - great food and decor and service as well. A truly welcome addition to the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteAlso my favorite of the new restaurants.
ReplyDeleteSo the service is now more solid? On our first two visits the food was excellent and the service was earnest--but still below average for the level of restaurant I think they are trying to be. For example, we had to ask 3 times for water after sitting down and we never got one of our drinks. if they really did address the service then we have real (local) gem on our hands. Looking forward to going back.
ReplyDeleteDessert - I think the service depends on who you get waiting on you, but I think the manager is committed to training the waistaff in the right way. I have seen him pull aside his staff (in a respectful way) to give them pointers. The bartenders are great and I think over time all of the waitstaff will be as well.
ReplyDeleteGG I agree with your assessment. I think he is doing a very good job.
