☞ EAT: The Grange Bar & Eatery in West Harlem

We received a message from the proprietors of a restaurant that will debut in West Harlem called The Grange.  This new bar and eatery will be opening around April on Amsterdam at West 141st Street which is close to City College.  The owners have lived in Hamilton Heights for several years and saw the need for a neighborhood family restaurant so the concept of The Grange came about.

There will be reportedly 1,100 square foot of space with outdoor seating, home-style country cooking being the focus along with a library wall of books as the backdrop.  At the bar, locals should expect a selection of 16 draft beers and a mixologist on hand offering up signature cocktails. We will have more details as things develop but those interested in supporting The Grange can add a "like" to the official Facebook page: LINK

  5. We are ecstatic at the arrival of something needed and wanted for years while we long-time homeowners fought drug dealers that used to populate this corner and the space itself.

Bringing anyone who showed interest, (after the drug dealers were finally pushed out) one restaurant owner seeking a new site ran away in horror when she saw the havoc the drug dealers had wreaked on the interior. Finally one bank then another opened and summarily closed.

Vacant for over ten years, we were able to get the block landmarked and welcomed Cafe One in a nearby space which adhered, as we hope the Grange will, to the Landmark exterior design requirements. We welcome the Grange to Hamilton Heights, a unique historic neighborhood that respects the greatness of our past, remembers our recent struggles and looks to the possibilities of our future!

  7. Wow. I like on this block, 141st, and I'm so thrilled I'll finally be able to grab a real beer on my own street. I've lived here for about 8 years, and every time I passed this corner, I wished for a diner. This is even better than I hoped.
