An archival image shows a local social mixer at the former Polo Grounds on the northern border of Harlem back in 1913. In the earlier years, it appears that community events were also held at the stadium and the above photos shows a theatre club event with the actors enjoying the weather at the main field. All of the major New York baseball games would be played at this intersection by 155th Street until 1963 and the New York Times recently posted a photo of the stadiums last opening day: LINK.
