☞ REMEMBER: Harlem's Greek Stadium c. 1915

Lewisohn Stadium was built back in 1915 and was Hamiton Height's own Greek coliseum up until the 1970s when it was torn down.  The grand local landmark hosted all sorts of public events and was striking classical structure on the hill at Amsterdam Avenue by City College.  Today a monolithic modern campus building sits on the site but folks can check out Lewisohn Stadium in this movie clip that was filmed right before it was torn down: LINK

  1. CCNY has a history of demolishing beautiful buildings they were unwilling to maintain. This was joined by the Finley Student Center and Wagner Hall about 15 and 20 years later.
