☞ SHOP: Something Different on Broadway

Bodegas and basic takeout places makeup the typical small storefronts on the Broadway corridor in West Harlem but we noticed something a little different happening in the past few weeks.  An old shop that used to be a Chinese takeout spot just north of LaSalle Street has gone under some major renovations that actually has a really good taste level at this point.  Industrial lights line the interior along with retro quilted stainless steel for the kitchen area.  There is also an abundance of patterned tiles that remind us of the type of finishings used in businesses a century ago.

This juxtaposition of new and old is quite difficult to accomplish successfully unless a trained designer is in play so we suspect that the proprietors most definitely know what they are doing.  It all looks like a takeout spot at this point but maybe some sort of specialized and affordable offerings will be served up.  Stay tuned for more details.

  1. It's a reincarnation of the Indian Cafe late of 108th & Broadway that couldn't swing their new lease. Same chef who is part of the construction crew!
