BESPOKE: ARTISAN RESTORATION AT BAILEY MANSION
Back during when the recession hit in 2009, the majestic Bailey Mansion at 150th and St. Nicholas sold extremely below asking price at $1.4 million and the new owners had an extraordinary opportunity at hand. Offered originally for $10 million during the height of market, the buyers really saw a deal when the recession hit and paid all cash for the property that had been more recently used as a funeral home. There was a lot to be done but with an 80 percent savings, the new owners could manage an accurate restoration.
A New Jersey specialist was chosen for the landmark building of Barnum & Bailey fame and the company Short Slate now has these detailed photos published on their website. A dramatic view of the the conical turret roof shows the complexity of the work at hand and there are even some great images of the stained glass within.
