REVIVE: WHAT'S UP WITH 405 LENOX

The small churches between 130th and 131st own almost the entire block on the west side of Lenox Avenue but not much major renewal has been going on site for many decades until recently.  Number 405 Lenox Avenue now has scaffolding up out front and DOB paperwork shows that there will some remedial repairs to the facade.  It probably would make more sense to sell the land next door since that space is only used for parking from time to time and the profits generated could restore the house to its original glory.  Word of mouth has it that the building itself is one of the oldest in Harlem.  Check out our past post for a very vintage photo of this Central Harlem block: LINK

  1. In late July surveyors were spotted surveying from the empty lot (ex-407 Lenox) to the empty section of the corner of 131 street.
