Sugar Hill Market really took off for early fall this past Sunday and there will be two dates for the next month. Harlem's curated designer market will return to La Maison d'Art at 259 West 132nd Street on Sundays October 12th and 26th from Noon to 7:00PM. This salon coincides with current art gallery exhibits and has been attracting the attention of many design enthusiasts included notable style bloggers and editors. With that said, the success has really been about supporting local talent that actually have been going to Brooklyn or downtown to sell their collections. Other designers have had an online business but have never connected with the neighborhood that they are based in.
Another fascinating phenomena is that Instagram has been a way that shoppers have been discovering local brands and a few folks mentioned that that they found the market on IG. Instagram works like twitter but with images so folks can keep their accounts locked but follow their favorite design sites like Sugar Hill Market:
