EAT: WHEN WILL MOUNTAIN BIRD OPEN AGAIN?

After becoming one of the most acclaimed new restaurants in Manhattan earlier in the year, Mountain Bird abruptly closed just months after opening because of rent contract renewal issues and has since left many wondering when they will open once again.  We just happened to run into the husband and wife team while at Hogshead Tavern in Hamilton Heights last week and were able to get a bit of an update. Looking for a new space around Sugar Hill has not been that easy since much of the asking commercial rent apparently now is similar to downtown prices even though kitchen spaces are usually not included and the foot traffic is less.

Determined to stay uptown, the Tajima team have been work hard in finding the right new spot and luckily have neighbors looking out for them.  Nothing fully concrete has come up just as of yet but with a bit of luck, Mountain Bird could be opening up in a larger space sometimes in early 2015.  Read more about Mountain Bird in our past post: LINK

  1. I would love to find the contact info for Kenichi Tajima because I have a possible restaurant space for them.

  3. I would love to see them move into the northwest corner of Broadway & 148th. That "computer" place still has the same ancient PCs, monitors and printers in its display window that were there when I moved here close to eight years ago.
