EAT: MADIBA SIGNS AT MIST 116TH

A tip came in the past week showing the signage for Madiba at the MIST cultural center on 116th Street just east of Lenox Avenue.  The beloved Fort Greene restaurant is opening a second branch in Harlem instead of expanding further in Brooklyn which is an interesting development and we especially like the look of the original space.  Seeing that the South African cuisine at the eatery has been tried and true, the challenge now is to transform a clinical, new construction interior into something that is warm and inviting like the original location which is in an old building.  What is off-putting to many folks seeking fine dining today is that suburban contemporary hotel lobby aesthetic or what we like to call "hospitality" interiors which look generic and not unique.  Anyways, check out the photos on YELP to see what uptowners can hopefully expect: LINK
