There does not seem to be many rent option these days for those who do not want to be too far north but a studio with a separate bedroom at 1726 Amsterdam might just be the right starter apartment for $1,350 a month. This walkup unit just north of 145th Street has a bit more charm than some of the renovated places we have seen uptown and is a short walk to the express trains which takes one to midtown in about 10 minutes. Hamilton Heights has had a big couple of years as far as the arrival of better businesses so we definitely like this location:
