RENT: DESIGNER LAYOUTS FOR STUDIOS

Studios are popular as a lower price rental option in the big city but there is little information out there on how to make them livable.  A listing at 19 West 129th Street caught our eye because of the designer layout shown in the photos which is a great example on how to add a bit of charm to cramped quarters. Basically one has to imagine their living space as luxury hotel room which usually has a small seating area designated along with a bed in the background.

We like the look of this room because the bland white box has been transformed into something that has warmth and color.  Rich brown neutrals are the key for the furniture while accents colors on pillow and other furnishings brighten things up.  A small coffee table and side chairs in front of the fireplace provide a place to dine and have guest over also.   Also note the great carpet that ties everything together and also provides noise reduction for the floors.

Another important point is that the bed sort of becomes part of the living room furniture (think of it as a daybed) so make sure to coordinate colors with the sofa and add a lot of decorative pillows.  A dresser drawer for storage is hidden behind the couch and accents mirror provide additional depth to the overall ambiance.

Those interested in this listing for $1,250 a month should check out the broker site but we doubt the apartment will come with the amazing furniture: LINK
