SEE: SAKURA PARK IN FULL BLOOM

The recent rise in temperature over the weekend has really moved springtime along over at the historic Sakura Park just north of 122nd Street by Riverside drive.  We took a walk yesterday and noticed that the trees in and around the park are at pretty much at 90 percent full bloom so will probably peak today or tomorrow. Although not as massive as the Sakura Matsuri display at the city's botanical gardens, this peaceful uptown cherry blossom oasis is a nice charming alternative for lazy afternoon and picnics in celebration of the season.  Views of landmarks like Grant's Tomb or Riverside Church are also in the immediate area and a visit to this petite park provides another excuse to catch up on the lore of the land.
