INTRODUCING: FIRST LOOK AT THE DRAFT HOUSE
Hamilton Heights continues with its string of strong openings with The Draft House on Broadway just below 142nd Street. We stopped in quickly yesterday and not only was amazed by the design put into the interior but also how open the layout was. Those looking for a little more space while venturing out, The Draft House is really the one to check out. There is also a beer hall aesthetic to the place with lots of exposed wood and white subway tiles that brings everything up to date with whats going on in the restaurant scene in the city. A lack of television screens also indicate that this new business is taking it way back and does not aspire to be a sports bar.
The rumored wood oven pizza was clearly on display in the back but was not up and running yet but taps of draft beer and also wine were ready to go. We chose the middle size for our draft beer and pretty much received a pitcher to drink out of as can be seen in the above photo. The Draft House is also fully staffed so long waits for drink orders are not an issue and everyone on deck is really attentive.
As far as the rest of menu goes, there are also other pub items including various burgers, roast organic chicken, fish & chip and even salads to choose from but we tried out the fried rice balls since the owners also are behind the Italian eatery Anchor wine bar which is also close by. Even without the pizza oven up and running, this new hot spot in the heights is already a contender for one of the best openings in 2015 in our opinion.
