EAT: PROSCIUTTO PIE AT SERAFINA HARLEM
Serafina Harlem just opened up a couple of weeks back on Amsterdam at the corner of 122nd Street and we were able to drop by for lunch recently to grab a quick bite. The wood oven pizza in the back with all of the prosciutto legs of ham hanging really caught our eye at the soft opening and we had to try out that specialty pie. At $18 per order, the 12 inch pizza with the thinly sliced Italian ham, cheese and fresh tomatoes is not the cheapest option uptown but the quality is all there. We received our order on a perfectly chewy thin crust with the charred edges one would expect from a brick oven offering and noticed the dramatic large slices of prosciutto on top.
When we traveled to Italy while working in the fashion industry, we noticed that the pies in Europe had a fresh element to them and Serafina definitely has that aesthetic. There was a nice added layer of uncooked tomatoes with a basil leaf to finish it all off and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. This is probably the best prosciutto pie to be found uptown and definitely worth a try. More on Serafina Harlem can be found in our past post: LINK
