INTRODUCING: 142 WEST 132ND STREET REVEALED
An empty lot at 142 West 132nd Street just had construction started up last fall and now the scaffolding on the new construction has come down to reveal the facade. The surprising thing here is that the developer basically replicated the brownstone architecture that was once lost at this address located between Lenox and 7th Avenue. Window lintels, decorative ornamentations along with the door entrance match the neighboring historic house and even a more modest cornice crowns the top of the 2-family home. Cast iron details on the stoop and the actual stairway are still missing but we expect something contextual to arrive very soon. Hopefully this developer will take up some of the other narrow lots to be found uptown and restore the blocks that they are on in the future.
