BESPOKE: VOTE FOR HARLEM'S HAT MAKER
We mentioned earlier in the week that Harlem milliner Karema Deodato has been selected as a finalist for Martha Stewart's American Made search for the best local artisan businesses and now the hat maker needs some help in the fan favorite voting selection. The designer is not a shop owner but makes each hats individually herself in the traditional bespoke methods used for centuries and works directly out of studio space within her Hamilton Heights apartment. This New York native's family has Brazilian origins but has been uptown over the past decade with her husband and raising a young daughter who is a first generation Harlem girl. Karema Deodato Millinery is featured locally at Sugar Hill Market and small boutiques in greater New York City but could definitely use the national exposure to help business along.
