EAT: ANOTHER LOOK AT LITTLE BAMBOO SUSHI

Little Bamboo Sushi on Lenox by the corner of 119th Street looks like it is about to have a grand opening and we finally figured out what was going on with the new fast food establishment by the Mount Morris Park neighborhood which reportedly doubles as a bar.  This actually had been two commercial spaces that shuttered over the past couple of years and each one now has a very specific function.

Basically the corner section that features neon back lit shoji screens is a bar in the evenings and the fast food part is at the other half without the oriental flourishes. There are workers inside during the day but we have not been able to get into the space covered in white marble with accents of red in the dining area.  It all somehow transports us to the 80s with this aesthetic or at least what we remember of the decade in old films. Has anyone had a chance to drop by yet?  More photos of the other bar section can be found in our past post: LINK

  1. "Oriental" flourishes? Eek. Try "Asian" instead.

    1. The saying for those who get confused is that rugs are Oriental and people are Asian. This antiquated adjective works on so many levels when describing stereotypical decor.

    2. Ulysses is right. He used oriental correctly here. Everybody calm down.

  2. I stopped in there tonight for dinner. Wonderful ambiance, and the sushi rolls were fantastic. I will be back often. Highly recommend.
