READ: THE SCHOMBURG CENTER IN THE NEW YORKER
The New Yorker just released a cover story featuring Harlem's famous Schomburg Center with some of the most iconic images from the Harlem Renaissance years painted by Kadir Nelson. Some might still not know about the extraordinary man who founded this unique branch of the New York Public Library dedicated to preserving a lost history after being told as a young man his people had nothing relevant to hold on to from the past. We had a post a couple of years back which details the life of the great Harlem historian who spent his life collecting artifacts and images that would become archival material for future generations.
