The old Coccola space at the corner of 139th on Amsterdam shuttered a few months ago and now a new Italian hot spot is set to open this weekend on Friday. We were not quite sure if Fumo would have the quality in place to be a big contender in the Heights but our doubts have been vanquished after getting a first look of the interior this afternoon. More photos after the jump.
As can be seen from the above photos, this new eatery just across the street from City College is an updated, elegant take on a classic Italian restaurant. White walls and tin ceilings complement clean lines that feel both modern and classic at the same time. The wood oven in the back alongside the geometric log storage shelves looks like it could be in a Scandinavian design magazine. This 60-seater will also have outdoor dining once the warm weather comes around and we expect Fumo to be one of the top openings for 2016 if the food is as good as the aesthetics presented thus far. More details on the menu can found in our past post: LINK
