QUESTION: WHAT WILL REPLACE ISLAND SALAD?

As many know by now, Island Salad on Lenox by 131st Street has shuttered but there might be some good news for this corner of Central Harlem.   Formerly the commercial space was setup as the second location of a healthy startup but it looks like the demand is still not quite there for this type of business uptown.  Based on word of mouth and a quick interview with the new shop owner, we have some details on what will open in the near future.
The boutique wineshop that debuted next door on the north side of 131st Street will now be setting up a new business within the adjacent space on the avenue.  Once construction completes in the coming months, a sister wine bar that will complement Pompette will open up and it looks like the two businesses will perfectly compliment one another.  One of the owners grew up just down the block and has been in the wine industry for some time so we expect a solid addition to the uptown dining scene by the end of summer. More on Pompette can be found in our past post: LINK
