DWELL: 16 WEST 130TH STREET ON THE MARKET
A gut renovated, single-family house on Astor Row has now arrived on the market for a record $4.3 million. This is one of the most famous landmark blocks in the city with country porches out front but there still are quite few unsightly abandoned buildings in the area. With that said, the renovations are really on the higher end with classic finishes such as herringbone wood floors and wall panel mouldings. We like the idea of having an HVAC system in place but somehow the air vents on the ceiling in each room are quite distracting. Other than that, the Lenox Avenue commercial corridor is just around the corner along with the express trains and the new Whole Foods on 125th Street that is finishing up this year. It appears the ceilings have been lowered to accommodate the HVAC ducting. One of the desirable features of an older home is the high ceilings, that may have been lost here.
