DRINK: BIERSTRASSE OPENS IN MANHATTANVILLE

Bierstrasse on 12th Avenue by 133rd Street had a soft opening just in time this past weekend and we were able to quickly drop by Harlem's beer garden on the far west side.  This new establishment in Manhattanville has a more old world aesthetic with painted white bricks, exposed rafters, herringbone stone floors and plank tables custom made from wood salvaged from a Harlem brownstone that had been going through a gut renovations.  There are also some modern elements to balance things out the space is quite well though out with an easy flow from the top to lower levels.  The outdoor space can sit about a hundred guests and quite a few more within the indoor tavern space.

A full menu will be up and running sometimes this week but beer is the main attraction here along with some pub grub.   Giant pretzels and bratwurst are also the offerings for now which works perfectly for outdoor dining by the Hudson River.  On a side note, those expecting a big mug should order the larger sizes or else receive the more slim serving as pictured above.  Some summer weather is finally heading over in the next few days and Beirstrasse has opened just in time as the next destination spot to be found uptown.

  2. "Unknown July 5" sounds like a real, whiny pain-in-the... that just wants to complain.
