SEE: GARY CONGER PAINTINGS AT MAISON D'ART
There is a new show a La Maison d'Art at 259 West 132nd Street that showcases works from the upcoming Harlem Arts Festival and one landscape painter really made an impression. Gary Conger has a few canvases on exhibit that feature Harlem's very recognizable skyline in a quiet way that reminds us a little of Hopper but one painting with a play on floating water towers in the sky breaks up that allusion. We like these oil paintings since they are a rare look into local architecture as art and shows a bit of history at the same time. The show currently can be seen by appointment or viewed at the next Sugar Hill Market on May 15th.
