REMEMBER: THE ROYAL PALMS CIRCA 1933

Who can guess the location of the Royal Palms ballroom from this image taken circa 1933?  The buildings in this view are actually all intact today but the corner address is no longer used for entertainment.   Another clue is that this was originally a movie theater when built at the turn of the last century.

ANSWER: The Claremont Theatre at 135th Street and Broadway was a storage facility in recent years but has been turned into a pediatric clinic as of late.  Another view from 1915 and a more current photo can be found in our past post: LINK

  1. The photo is of the old Claremont Theater building located at Broadway & 135th Street in Manhattanville. The building is now a NY City Landmark and there's great Edison film footage on YouTube from 1915 of the building with people exiting after a movie.

  2. 135th & Broadway. I didn't immediately recognize the building but the below-level road is a giveaway
