LISTEN: THE MUSIC OF STEVE LACY AT NJMH

July 19th, 2016, 7:00PM, A Straight Horn Perspective: The Music of Steve Lacy at National Jazz Museum in Harlem, 58 West 129th Street, just east of Lenox Avenue. In preparation for The Steve Lacy Festival on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016, soprano saxophonist Sam Newsome will give a talk discussing the music and career of the late master of the straight horn.
Newsome will discuss Lacy’s solo works, his interpretations of the music of Thelonious Monk as well his innovations on the soprano saxophone. The talk will culminate with Newsome performing solo renditions of some of Lacy’s classic compositions. More details on the NJMH website: LINK
