ARCHITECTURE: PUBLIC CLOCK AT 110TH STREET
Public clocks were very commonplace over a century ago but few remain uptown these days which was probably a concern of one building on Central Park North. We walked by the block on 110th Street located between Fifth and Lenox and saw a very historic looking time piece on one of the apartment complexes that actually was in perfect working order. It is unclear if there had always been a clock at this corner before it disappeared in recent decades or if the building just decided to add a prewar detail on their own accord. Either way, this is a smart looking way to indicate the address of the residence and also provides a public service.
