BESPOKE: PO BOYS AT EAST HARLEM BOTTLING CO.
We dropped by the East Harlem Bottling Co. a couple of weeks after the pub opened in El Barrio over the summer and tried out the menu to see how the food held up. The shrimp Po-Boy looked like a winner on this particular outing and we ordered the classic with a side order of onion string. Everything was made fresh on the spot and the sandwich had large shrimp that were slightly floured and served up still warm on a toasted Italian roll. We tend to like the more chewier crust of a French baguette but the overall quality was apparent in the entree and the meal did not disappoint. The onion fries were even a more notable standout for the day which came out perfectly crisp and should definitely be considered as an alternative to the standard potatoes. Those who are close to Lexington Avenue by 107th Street really must drop by this new spot for some great food and drinks.
