Lulu's Taqueria on Manhattan at the corner of 122nd Street abruptly shut down about 3 weeks ago and now rumor has it that a new restaurant is already making the move to the brownstone storefront. A comment from our previous post mentions as much:
Met the incoming eatery owners tonight. Cuisine will be farm to table American fare. Name will be Clay. Soft opening scheduled around mid January. Fingers crossed for them!
We took the above photo yesterday and there is indeed brown paper up on the windows but having a new eatery open in a month's time seems rather ambitious. With that said, the space had already been renovated previously and a few coats of paint along with new furnishings might just be the only thing really needed to turn things around. Nothing can ever replace Perkins. A good Jazz spot is needed at this location
