ARCHITECTURE: HARLEM'S OLDEST BEER HALL

Harlem Bespoke:  One of Harlem's remaining architectural gems still lays dormant on 124th Street just east of 8th Avenue.   Pabst Beer Garden debuted in Harlem over 100 years ago but prohibition would put a halt to what was reportedly the city's largest beer hall that also featured within a tree as tall as the one at Rockefeller Center during the holiday seasons.  From what we can see now, the dramatic space is basically just storage for the commercial storefront that it is connected to on 125th Street but was up for lease about 3 years ago.  Harlem now has grand beer hall on the west side so maybe a revival might not be the best thing here but making an adaptive reuse development out of this address could create something quite remarkable.
