Harlem Bespoke: We noticed that the old abandoned gas station site at 691 St. Nicholas recently had diggers on the site and wondered what was going on. Plywood fences have gone up around the lot located just below 145th Street and now a rendering has been posted out front.
Instead of the typical residential development, it appears that a charter school has been planned for the site on the border of West and Central Harlem. This part of the block has been vacant for as long as we can remember and having a new school in the neighborhood will definitely be a welcomed addition. Summer 2018 is the completion date so things will probably be progressing along quite quickly in the upcoming months.
